Expertise: Social Circular Economy

CenSE contributes to the transition to a sustainable and inclusive society through research on the social circular economy, social impact and sustainability. This research cluster analyses organisations that create both economic and social value, with a particular focus on the collaboration and growth mechanisms of social and circular enterprises.

To support this transition, CenSE focuses on crucial themes such as required competences, innovative business models, sustainable collaboration models and impact measurement. Fundamental research on systems thinking, stewardship philosophy and sustainable partnerships is central, focusing on how various actors can work together efficiently and transparently. Through fundamental and applied research, CenSE actively contributes to the development and implementation of social and circular economy concepts in Brussels, Flanders and Europe.

  • S-CircEl: Social and Circular Ecosystems with a view to advancement to gainful employment

    Transition from the social economy to a sustainable, paid job (in the regular circuit) is and remains a major challenge. Within this project we look for new opportunities to (re)activate this target group on the (regular) labor market and increase their chances of a sustainable job.

    With NeoParent 2.0, we are extending the previously developed NeoParent app to support parents with a baby in neonatology to the wider family. Indeed, in addition to the support the app now offers during the hospital stay, a need for a broader context emerged.
