Apply for an O-statuut

Do you have extra educational needs and did you already get increased care in the past? Do you have a specific diagnosis? Together we look at where you experience difficulties and what possible adjustments could be helpful. For this, you can apply for an O-statuut, where the O stands for ‘Ondersteuning’, which means ‘support’ in Dutch.

Students with an O-statuut are entitled to a number of facilities. These support measures are provided in consultation with you and the study programme.

You can request an O-statuut to the care coordinator of your campus before October 15 for the first semester and before March 21 for the second semester. However, our advice is: do this as soon as possible! The sooner this request is made, the faster you can enjoy your facilities.

Students who enroll passed these deadlines, hand in their application together with the ISP deadline.

The step-by-step plan below explains you how to apply for an O-statuut.

  1. 1

Check whether an O-statuut is necessary for you

As a student at Odisee you are entitled to a number of inclusive facilities & software. Students with a concentration disorder or a diagnosis of dyslexia, dysgraphia and/or dyscalculia are often sufficiently helped by this. STUVO also offers many online workshops for students, also about planning and study skills. These can also help you a long way in terms of study method. It is therefore important to first consider whether an application for an O-statuut is really necessary/meaningful for you.

    Important:  in academic year
2023-2024 the new decree for higher education starts. From then on you will be obligated to follow the standard programme of your degree (in most cases 60 credits) and you must have passed those courses within the first 2 academic years. Do you want to take up less credits due to your support needs? Then you will have to apply for the O-statuut (or one of the other statutes) as well.

  2. 2

Check whether you qualify for an O-statuut

An O-statuut can be awarded to students with:

    • a learning disability
    • a long-term physical or psychological illness
    • a concentration disorder
    • an autism spectrum disorder
    • a hearing, visual or motor impairment
    • an increased care - report from you secondary school
  3. 3

    Gather the necessary documents

To apply for O-statuut, you must submit the necessary certificates or reports. Keep in mind that collecting this can take some time. Start early with this.

  5. 5

Send your application to the care coordinator of your campus

Send your application form together with the necessary documents to the care coordinator of your campus. He/she will then contact you to make an appointment to discuss your application.

    Deadline first semester: October 15

    Deadline second semester: March 21

Students who enroll passed these deadlines, hand in their application together with the ISP deadline.

Custom adaptations

During the intake with the care coordinator will be discussed which care you received in secondary education and how this can be translated into your studies at our university of applied sciences.

Based on this, a number of facilities can be awarded. These can of course still change during your study career. Do you notice that the allocated facilities are insufficient? Then contact your care coordinator again.

SPECIFIC CARE

Do you need specific care, does certain infrastructure of the campus needs to be adapted, do certain teaching materials (courses, teaching materials) need to be adapted, do you expect not to be able to participate in all parts of the curriculum (as described in the annual program) or do you have questions about the feasibility of your study track?

Please contact the care coordinator before registering. Contact details per campus can be found above in step 5.

IMPORTANT DEADLINES

First semester: October 15

Second semester: March 21

Are you submitting your application late? You are only entitled to facilities from the start of the next semester.

Students who enroll passed these deadlines, hand in their application together with the ISP deadline.
