Student card
-
Your student card is used to identify yourself during an exam. When you take part in an on-campus exam you always have it with you and you show it to the examiner or supervisor during the exam.
When you take part in an online (oral) exam, the professor will ask you to hold your student card in front of the webcam on your computer. He will compare the picture on your student card with the picture he has of you on his student list.
If you have lost your student card, request a new one as soon as possible via sa@odisee.be. While waiting for your new card, please use another form of identification that contains a picture. (identity card, driver's license,...).

The Examination Regulations stipulate a number of requirements that need to be met in order to be allowed to participate in an exam. In order to participate in an exam, you need to:
- be registered for the concerning course unit
- have paid your tuition fee
- have your identity and participation in the exam checked (student card/exam card)
The Examination Regulations also argue that an exam result is invalid and non-existent if you would participate in an exam even though you did not meet the abovementioned requirements.
Lastly, the Examination Regulations state that if you are able to provide proof of participation in an exam, you are entitled to an exam result.
-
We monitor two things:
1. Before the exam: are you allowed to take part in a certain exam?
2. After the exam: did you take part in the exam?
-
The exam card of a certain exam period provides an overview of the results expected for you in this exam period. In this overview, your personal situation is taken into account:
- Exemptions granted and course part transfers are not mentioned
- (Parts of) course units that do not allow a resit will only be mentioned in the exam period of the first exam chance.
- An exam, for which an exam change was granted, is only mentioned in the exam period to which the exam moment was transferred.
A student is, in a certain exam period, only allowed to take part in the exams of (parts of) course units mentioned on the exam card of this exam period.
A lecturer is, in a certain exam period, only allowed to administer the exams of (parts of) course units mentioned on the exam card of this exam period.
-
Your exam card is used to prove that your took part in an exam.
- Before the start of every examination period, you print your exam card via www.odisee.be/dashboard > My tools > My IES. If your exam card is incorrect/incomplete or if you are not able to print your exam card, please contact the Student Administrative Services Centre of your campus well before the start of your exam.
- You need to bring your exam card to each exam on campus:
- Written exam: you place your exam card at the corner of your desk. If possible, the lecturer or supervisor present verifies whether the exam concerned is listed on your exam card before the start of the exam.
- Oral exam: you provide your exam card to the examiner before the start of the exam.
- Your exam card is signed or stamped by the examiner or supervisor:
- Written exam: upon handing in your exam paper;
- Oral exam: after completing the exam.
- You need to keep your exam card at least until all results of the exam period concerned are communicated.
- When you take part in an online (oral) exam, the professor is responsible for the registration of your exam participation. You are advised however to also note down the date and time of the start and end of your online exam on your exam card so that the professor can later on verify the list of participants at that specific time if needed.
- Before the start of every examination period, you print your exam card via www.odisee.be/dashboard > My tools > My IES. If your exam card is incorrect/incomplete or if you are not able to print your exam card, please contact the Student Administrative Services Centre of your campus well before the start of your exam.

While waiting to receive your final diploma, you can already apply or register at an educational institution with your provisional certificate.
You can request your provisional certificate via the self-service application as soon as your results are visible in your study progress file. From the month of December following the academic year of graduation, most clusters organise graduation ceremonies. The students who graduated in the previous academic year are personally invited for this. If no ceremony is planned or if you cannot collect your diploma at the ceremony, your diploma is sent by registered mail to your address in January. In the examination period before you can graduate, you will receive an e-mail with a personal link to check your address so that your diploma will be sent to the correct address.

The code GR indicates that the results of a specific course are not available yet and we expect to receive them later.
You do NOT need to register for this course unit for the September examination period, even if you think you obtained a fail grade. As soon as your result is available, we will do the necessary to register you for a second exam opportunity, should this prove necessary.
-
If you decide to take up a second examination opportunity for a fail mark that you obtained in a previous examination period of this academic year, you keep your previous result if it is higher than the result you obtained in the September examination period (Please note this only applies to overall results within one academic year, not to partial results). We therefore want to encourage you to take your second examination opportunity. Moreover, your learning account will be returned if you pass the course unit.
-
Feedback session with your lecturer:
It will be communicated by your study programme how and when the feedback sessions of your examinations take place.Feedback session with your learning path coach:
If you would like to discuss your overall results and study progress, you can contact your learning path coach.
-
For advice on using tolerance credit you can contact your learning path coach
We advise you to only take a decision on applying tolerance when you have an overview of all your results of the whole academic year.
You have 15 calendar days, starting from the day on which the exam results are announced, to register tolerances in your study progress file, via the tab ‘Tolerances’.
Please note, if you decide to apply tolerances at this time: an applied tolerance is final and cannot be undone.
-
Have you been refused permission to continue your programme next year?
The learning path coach of your programme and/or STUVO staff can help you sort things out, help you think about the reasons for your refusal and review the various options for the future with you.
You can find more information at https://www.odisee.be/en/refusal-enrolment-now-what.
Registration for the third examination period
-
If you wish to take part in the third examination period (August-September), you need to register by July 3rd at the latest for every course for which you wish to take an exam or for which you want to be graded (i.e. internship, courses with permanent evaluation).
Registration is required. Without registration you will not be able to get results, see any dates in your exam schedule and you will not receive a valid exam card.
How can you register?
As soon as your June exam results are published in your study progress file (www.odisee.be/en/my-admin > My study progress), you can indicate the courses you want to retake in the third examination period through the tab ‘3rd examination period’ in your results.
If you complete your registration in time, you can consult your individual exam schedule (IES) and exam card from 8 July: www.odisee.be/en/my-admin > My Individual Examination Schedule (IES). Only courses with exams are visible in your IES.
Important: your exam card can still change depending on the tolerances you may apply.
Have you missed the deadline?
Fill in the online request form that will be published here after the deadline.
The requests will be processed as from 11/08. As soon as your request has been processed you will be able to consult your individual exam schedule (IES). You need to check this yourself; you will not receive a confirmation e-mail.
Good luck with your exams!
Registering for the next academic year
-
When can I reregister?
- If you obtained all your credits after the June examination period or you used tolerances so that you don't have to take any more course units this academic year, you will receive an invitation by e-mail to reregister for next academic year a few days after the announcement of your results.
- If you take a 2nd examination opportunity in the third examination period (August/September), you will only receive an invitation to reregister after your results from the third examination period have been announced.
How to reregister?
After you have received your invitation e-mail, you can register via:
- the tool My re-registration on the student platform (logging in as a student is required)
- My Admin
What happens after reregistration?
After your reregistration you will receive a certificate of enrolment in your Odisee mailbox and an account statement for the fixed costs of your enrolment. If you are a non-scolarship student, you will receive a second account statement after the approval of your individual study programme (ISP) with the remaining amount (based on the actual number of credits taken).
More information about welcome days, the start of the academic year, ordering study materials, registering your individual study programme (ISP), ... You can find more information on odisee.be > Studying@Odisee > Ready for take off > A smooth start.

Decretal threshold
-
The Flemish government wants students to think carefully about their choice of study and obtain their degree as soon as possible. It has therefore decided that from academic year 2023-2024 a number of rules will apply that aim to make students:
- consciously think about their choice of study
- allow them to change programme sooner if they feel or notice that they have not chosen the right course
- register as much as possible in a model track or at least a sufficiently large study package
- stop their chosen bachelor's programme if they have not passed the courses of their first registration after two years
The latter is what the government calls ‘the decretal threshold’.
-
In your first academic year, the threshold rules have no real concrete consequences for you yet. What is important to keep in mind?
- Know that at the end of your first academic year, a ‘snapshot’ will be taken of your subject package. These courses form your threshold package.
- The aim is that you pass all these courses by the end of your second academic year at the latest. This means that you either:
- obtained a credit (10/20 or more)
- were able to apply tolerance credit
Did you pass (or tolerate) all your courses at the end of your first year? Great! You have already met the threshold!
Have you not passed everything yet? Then the government will give you a second academic year to pass the courses for which you did not obtain a credit or tolerance.
-
Did you not manage to pass all courses of your threshold package in your first academic year?
Then you are obliged to take the courses you did not pass in your individual track. You cannot deregister for these courses during the academic year either. You are therefore obliged to retake them. Of course, together with your study path coach, you can check which courses from the second phase you can also take.
Bear in mind: the threshold rules require you to have passed all courses in your threshold package by the end of your second academic year. This means that you have passed or can apply tolerance for all the courses you did not pass at the end of your first academic year.
So in your second academic year, you really have to give priority to the courses from the first academic year that you are retaking.
-
In Odisee, students set their own tolerances throughout their academic career. This means that you can decide yourself whether or not to retake a fail grade (8 or 9/20) for a tolerable course, within a number of conditions.
For reaching the decretal threshold, tolerances will sometimes be applied automatically, you will not have to decide this yourself. This happens if you can pass the decretal threshold at the end of the first or second academic year by applying tolerance credits. This will be reflectedin your study progress file, where you can consult your exam results.
-
Did you fail the courses in your threshold package after the second academic year? Then the consequences are major, even if you only failed one course:
- You will be refused admission to the bachelor's programme you were following and you will therefore not be allowed to reregister in the same programme.
- This refusal applies in all Flemish university colleges for a period of 6 years.
- You will only be allowed to reregister earlier than those 6 years if you subsequently obtain another degree in higher education.
- Would you like to register in another programme? Ask your study path coach what your options are.
-
Was there a motivated reason why you failed the threshold? Then you can start proceedings with your university college to lift the refusal to register.
When?
You can apply for an exception in case of:
- force majeure e.g. illness that prevented you from participating in all exams or caused you to miss a lot of classes during the year
- special individual circumstances e.g. death in the immediate family
Where?
You must start this procedure at the university college where you followed the programme.
How?
These rules differ from one university college to another. Check carefully in the education and examination regulations or on your transcript how to start the procedure.
-
Did you have an elective course in your first year's curriculum and failed it? If so, the university college may allow you to take another elective in its place when you reregister.
Be aware that this will affect your threshold:
- You will only be given one academic year to pass this new elective: it replaces the original elective from your first threshold package.
- You do not have two academic years to pass this elective. You will therefore have to work extra hard to succeed in this.
-
If you change your major after your first year, this will also have an impact on the application of the threshold:
- The government actually sees a change of major as a new registration in a new ‘programme’ (and therefore not a actual reregistration). In this case, the government thinks you should be given another two academic years to prove yourself.
- As a result, the snapshot taken at the end of your first year will be (partly) overwritten at the end of your second year (i.e. the first year in your new graduate programme).
- You will only have to pass the threshold at the end of the third year you are enrolled since that is actually only the second year you are registered in your new major.
In practice, the university college will determine how your snapshot will (partially) transfer.
-
If you follow another bachelor's programme or associate degree elsewhere, you will start all over again: the courses you take at your new institution will form your new threshold package. Please note: if you do not have a major at Odisee or at the new institution from the first year, this rule does not apply to you!
If you stay in the same programme and the same major, your threshold package remains the same size. The new institution will fill it with its own courses. You will then have one year to pass those courses, including the ones you have never taken before.
